The Philadelphia's Michelin Guide

Philadelphia earned its first Michelin Guide selection in October 2024, joining a select group of American cities with official Michelin recognition. The inaugural list included one starred restaurant, nine Bib Gourmands (outstanding food at moderate prices), and over 60 recommended restaurants across the city. For a food city that's always punched above its weight, the recognition was overdue — and the restaurants on this list prove why.

BYOB Tip

Many of Philadelphia's best Michelin-recognized restaurants are BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle). Kalaya and several of the chef-driven tasting-menu rooms are all BYOB — bring a great bottle of wine and save significantly on what would otherwise be a $200+ dinner.

🌟 What the Stars Mean

One Michelin Star means "high-quality cooking, worth a stop." Bib Gourmand means "exceptionally good food at moderate prices." Recommended means the inspectors think it's worth your time. All three are genuine recognition — Philadelphia should be proud of the full list.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Michelin-starred restaurants are in Philadelphia?

Philadelphia's first MICHELIN Guide ceremony was held in November 2025. As of the 2025 edition, three restaurants hold one MICHELIN star: Friday Saturday Sunday, Her Place Supper Club, and Provenance. The city also has multiple Bib Gourmand recognitions and a wider selection of Recommended restaurants in the guide.

How do I get a reservation at a starred restaurant?

Friday Saturday Sunday takes reservations on Resy. Her Place Supper Club runs seatings at 6pm and 8:30pm Wednesday through Saturday — book on their website. Provenance also books through their website. All three fill fast, especially weekends. Try weeknight dates or follow each restaurant's Instagram for last-minute openings.

What's the difference between a Michelin Star and a Bib Gourmand?

A MICHELIN Star recognizes exceptional cooking — typically a destination dining experience. A Bib Gourmand recognizes excellent food at moderate prices (usually under ~$50 for two courses and a glass of wine, excluding tax/tip). Bib Gourmands are about value, Stars are about technique.

Are Michelin restaurants in Philly really worth the price?

For the one-Star rooms (Friday Saturday Sunday, Her Place Supper Club, Provenance), yes — they're the best of their cuisine in the region and the experience justifies the tasting menu price tag. For Bib Gourmand spots, you're getting full Michelin-recognized cooking for a fraction of that, which is often the better value.

Which Philly Michelin restaurants are BYOB?

Several of the Bib Gourmand and Recommended Philadelphia kitchens operate as BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle), which lets you bring a great wine and save significantly on what would otherwise be a $200+ dinner. Always confirm BYOB status with the restaurant when booking.
